In Annual Meeting
A total of 1148 patients, exclusive of newborn infants, were admitted to Culpeper Memorial Hospital in 1962, including 29 from Orange County, 50 from Madison, and 70 from Rappahannock. The figures were contained in a report to the Board of Directors, Friday night by Administrator John D. Phillips. E. Jackson Eggborn, was named president to succeed T. I. Martin. The report also listed 277 births, 1256 emergency room visits and 580 operations performed, both major and minor. Despite the fact that percent of occupancy rose from 48.2 per cent in 1961 to 57.1 per cent in 1962, the hospital reported a deficit of $4,413 for the year ending Dec. 31, 1962. This took into account a total of $14,019 in bad debts as well as depreciations. Gross earnings rose from $291,097 in 1961 to $352,990 for the past year, with total assets reported a s $1,257, 232. Complete depreciation on all equipment was taken. The hospital staff is comprised of 40 area physicians and specialists.
