In 1962 farm families of the nine Northern Virginia counties served by the Culpeper FHA office repaid nearly $209,000 in principal and interest on loans from the U. S. Farmers Home Administration, Stuart H. Barrell, County Supervisor, of the agency announced in Culpeper this week. The amount repaid by farm* ers of these counties in 1962 was ten percent more than the amount for the preious year. A total of 11 farm families from these same counties completely repaid their Farmers Home Administration loans last year. Mr. Barrell also reported that in 1962 his agency had its biggest year in history. Nation-wide, Farmers Home Administration lending totaled $754 million, an increase of 50 percent over the amount for 1961 and 120 percent over the total for 1960. A total of $512,610 in loans to Culpeper area farm and other rural families were made by Farmers Home Administration during the year. This was a 53 percent increase over the amount for 1961 and 98.6 percent over the 1960 volume of loans.
