Textbook Adoption

For 1962-64 Session

A number of teachers to consider in the WarrenRappahannock Public School System are now actively reviewing new textbooks. This is the year to consider changing textbooks in the fields of Elementary Arithmetic, Elementary Health and Elementary Science, Dictionaries, also. High School Mathematics and Physics. The State Board of Education has supplied the local school division with a list of the books that should be reviewed. A selection will be made from this list to be used by our pupils, beginning with the new school term. Subsequently these textbooks will be used for a six year period. About thirty teachers are involved in this process of reviewing new books. They met at the Warren County High Sehool on Wednesday, January 30, to receive preliminary instructions and samples of the many textbooks that were supplied by textbook publishers. The meeting was conducted by O. A. Norton, Division Superintendent of Schools, and James W. Eavey, Director of Instruction. The committee members will be hard at work during the months of February and March trying to determine the books that will be most suitable for local use.
