William J. Powers, manager of the Veterans Administration Regional Office in Roanoke, said today that as of the end of last week, about 27,645 veterans or dependents in Virginia had returned their pension income questionnaires properly completed.
Powers said of those received, 2,645 had to be returned to the pensioner because they were incomplete, unsigned, or failed to give proper information. Inasmuch as there are approximately 34,583 veterans or dependents currently drawing pensions in Virginia, about 6,938 others will have to complete the forms and return them as required by law to the Regional Office before January 31 or face possible suspension of payments.
Questionnaires were mailed with November checks, which were received by pensioners about December 1. Powers urged all those who have not completed and mailed their income questionnaire forms to do so imV mediately.
