A goodly number of Rappahannock folk had the privilege of being included in the more than 500,000 persons to see the Mona Lisa at the National Gallery of Art before her final appearance there on Sunday, February 3, having been on display since January 8. Leonardo da Vinci’s lady with the much discussed smile is on loan from the Louvre in Paris. She will now go to New York, under Secret Service guard and police escort, where she will be seen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from February 7 through March 4. While in Washington this famous painting broke all records of viewing a single work of art at a special exhibition. One wonders how many varied ideas there were among the 500,000 visitors of what was behind the smile on the Mona Lisa’s lovely face. __ Deeds Recorded

P. Lee Thornton entered the University o' Virginia hospital in Charlottesville last week for observation and treatment. Aubrey Jenkins and Milton Dodson are also patients in the same hospital.
Elder and Mrs. J. Harvey Daily were in Bentonville for the regular Sunday morning church service. Sunday afternoon guests of the Daily’s were Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Martin, Miss Susan Stringfellow. and Mrs. Lenora and Miss Leta Fitzhugh of Manassas.
