MR. FARMER, please note. It is a pitiful bowl of porridge you will be trading your birthright for if you vote in favor of the new wheat program in the referendum on May 21.
This wheat program is not only unworkable, absurb, unjust, disrupting, corrupting, confusing, full of red tape and unseen strings, but it is a stepping stone to total farm control. So, please vote and VOTE NO. The published figures for the 1964 wheat acreage allotments by the United States Department of Agriculture for individual states are a fearful and wonderful process. Nearly every soft wheat state (those east of the Mississippi) has a lower allotment than in 1962, while the national total is virtually the same as for 1964. The total reduction for the soft wheat area (the type we raise) is over 300,000 acres. On the other hand, the hard wheat areas of the west is increased by over 200,000 acres, spring wheat by over 90,000 acres and western white wheat areas by 25,000 acres. Regardless of the reasoning behind these allocations they continue to encourage production of hard wheats which are in surplus supply and discourage production of soft wheat which is in short supply and which is of vital interest to. Virginia farmers. So, pldase vote.
