Referendum—
(Continued from page one) age for all #1 wheat grown ! in Virginia in 1960, 1961 and 1962 was $1.82 per bushel. In 1962 ft 1 wheat grown in Virginia has averaged , $ 1.96, per bushel. You can see by now, that the Referendum if passed, promises Virginia farmers very little. What worries Rappahannock County Farm Bureau the most, however, is thef supply control thinking behind the program. Dr. Willard Cochran, Director of Agriculture Economics, U. S. Dept, of Agriculture, considered the master mind behind the Plan has indicated in interviews that he anticipates Supply Control on most agricultural products to include wheat, feed grain, dairy, poultry, and even beef \ cattle. Dr. Cochrane thinks that some commodities will be voted in, and others will be forced in for economic reasons. A NO vote on May 21st will do much to prevent this type of an agricultural system.
