Rag Classes Held
The workshop on hooked rugs was held on Wednesday, March 4 at Amissville Fire Hall and was attended by 24 county' women. Miss Harriet Goode, Rappahannock Home Agent, made all arrangements anderi listed Miss Catherine Peery. VPI Rural Crafts specialist, to the give the demonstrations Mrs. Tom Pillar of Sperry, ville furnished books and parry phlets of designs and displayed several rugs which she had made. Most of the women actually got started on a rug. The braided rug workshop on Thursday, March 4, also at Amissville, was attended by 12 county womeri. Miss P e ery demonstrated such techniques as cutting, joining, braiding and sewing together. A great emphasis was placed on selecting the proper size rug for a room and on color combinations.
Plans have been made to hold follow up meetings to the rug schools
The meetings will be held as follows: 1. Sperryville Area.. March 18th at 9:30 a.m. at the home cf Mrs. T. J. Pillar. 2. Amissville Area ..March 19th at 9:30 a.m. at the Amiss viUe Fire Hall. . Teachers will be there to help with both braided and hook ed rugs. Bring either to work on. The rug stripper will be available for cutting material.
