As a result of the cooperative efforts between cattle pro ducers and the state Veterinarian's office In controlling and preventing, bovine tuberculosis and Brucellosis health requirement plans were adapted at the 1964 Annual meeting of the Virginia Beef Cattle Association, It is up to each individual sale organization to select one of these plans which are: ! - 1. Annual Herd Testing: All fern alp calves must originate directly from a herd that is not under quarantine and the herd has had a clean test for tuberculosis and Bang's within the past twelve months. (This plan has. been included in the optional plans governing sales in recant years). - 2. Market Cattle Testing: All female calves must originate directly from a herd that is not under quarantine and the herd has had at least 5% of the breeding animals tested and inspected at a recognized slaughtering establish m e n t and found negative within the past eighteen (18) month. It is doubtful whether many of our herds can quallfy under this plan in 1964 however action on the part of owners as they market cull cows can save them the expense of annual
