The week of March 15-21 ^.J^as been designated as Naj tlonal Poison Prevention Week* “This Is not just another pro‘ motional week, but a sincere effort to draw attention to a serious health problem," said Dr. Mack I. Shanholtz, State Health Commissioner. “Year after year about 500,000 children are accidentally poisoned in the U. S., and of that number approximately 500 die. Thus, we can see that poison prevention is important.
“Most people know poisons should be kept away from children, but they are not always aware of the danger of many household products. There are more than 250,000 products which can be toxic, and which are available to the consumer today. Not even the best medical doctor can keep up with the ever-increasing number of potentially poisonous household products on the consumer market."
