'Carelessness on the part of adults is often a causative factor fn accidental poisoning. Giving c.r taking the wrong medicine because of poor light or other reasons for failure to read the label, can cause a tragedy. “In other Instances, discarded containers with some of the original contents remaining can cause poisoning. A small amount of residue of a product such ais drain cleaner or insecticide can harm a child. Medicine no longer needed when f;he illness for which it was prescribed is over should be em ptied down the drain and its container rinsed with water." Dr. Shanholtz concluded by saying that, “If National Poison Prevention Week does nothing more than stimulate parnnts to check their homes for possible hazards, then an important part of the purpose of this Week will have been realized."
