Another good race story came from the W. H. Lyne household. Seems Bill and his brother Oliver went to the track early since Bill was officially participating in the hound race. They went in Bill's car leaving Oliver’s for the rest of the family to go later. So, Peachey put the entrance sticker securely on the windshield of Oliver's car then was unable to find the ignition keys. With the coffee pot full of hot water they had to steam the sticker off and put it on her car — then off to the races. When they arrived at the races, Oliver met them with a guilty look and the^keys Jn_ his pocket. I found Mary Stevens Jones column, Main and Davis, in last Thursday's Culpeper StarExponent very amusing. From it I quote, "Conner F. Yates, Culpeper’s supervisor from Salem District (in which is located the Culpeper land that Rappahannock is claiming) sdid Rappahannock is claiming all of Boston. Its claims extend a mile and a half into Culpeper territory, all the way to the Hazel River on the Durant property, Conner told the board. "When County Agent Roy Hetzel introduced Chris Clark, the new assistant county agent here, stating that he is 24 years old and single, board IfHWUjNirs stated they hoped he would find a wife here as Roy did. Supervisor Yates added he hoped that, if he does, it will not prove as costly to the county as the Rev. Park Dickerson’s approaching marriage threatens to do. "Our preacher at New Salem Baptist Church (Mr. Dickerson). is going to marry Rappa hannock Commonwealth’s Attorney George Davis’ daughter, said Conner, and Davis is claiming half of Culpeper County in return."
