Flint Hill firemens annual carnival opened last night for a four-night stand and the feature of the evening was a brilliant display of fireworks. Much attention Is focused on the carnival parade which will take place tonight (Thursday) beginning at 7 p.m.
Miss Carolyn Lee Eddy of Norfolk, recently named “Miss Virginia”, will be grand marshal of the parade which will be led by the U. S, Marine Band from Quantico. Miss Eddy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Eddy.
A 1960 graduate of Princess Anne High School, Carolyn is currently a senior at Old Dominion College in Norfolk, and hopes to continue her education in drama at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.
She has also attended Arizona State University and has had two years of training in ballet and modeling. As her talent offering,Carolyn spellbound the audience of the Miss Virginia Pagent with a dramatic reading.
Other features of the parade will be the Shriners Khedive Oriental Band of Newport News, a Navy missile display and Marine static display. Entries include bands, floats, marching units, majorettes, fire and rescue equipment,

Amissville Queen Title
A contest is now in progress to select a queen of the Amissville Firemens annual carn-r ival to be held August 12, 13, 14 and 15. The pretty young lady selected will be crowned on Friday night the 14th.
A report from the queen committee Tuesday has two of the hopefuls tied for first place. Following is the present standings: Judy Poling and Peggy Stringfellow, 525 votes each; Ann Holmes, 400; Brenda Hackley, 324; Doris Cooke and Sharon Suter, 100 each; Nancy Corder, 50; Marlene Cordani, none. The contest is under the sponsorship of the Amissville Ladies Auxiliary.
