Rough riding and roping were a necessity for the cowboy then and now. The competition which began in the cattle camps has now moved to the Rodeo arena to provide a highly competitive, exciting and dangerous sport and today ranks second only to baseball in paid admissions. Top Rodeo contestants can earn fabulous sums in a year of competition-up to $50,000 or more.
Rodeo in the southeast was fostered by the southeast Rodeo Association made up of contestants in North and South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, and Florida. These Rodeos should not be confused rwith the Wild West Show of carnivals and county Fairs as cowboys are not salaried and they pay entry fees in each -vent and compete for prize money.
The world’s first lighthouse, and possibly the best known, used three types, of architecture. The base was rectangular, the middle part w'asoctag onal, and the upper part, circular.
