Luther Jenkins Named
On FHA Committee
Appointment of Luther S. Jenkins to the Rappahannock County Farmers Home Administration Committee was announced this week by Phelps Walker, the agency's county supervisor stationed in Culpeper.
Mr. Jenkins operates a farm and orchard in the Sperryville community and is active in the agricultural affairs of the county. FHA county committees are made up of three members who work with the county supervisor to see that the best possible use is made of the agency's farm credit service program consistent with local farmers’ needs. The other two members of the Rappahannock County committee are Richard Latham of Amissvllle and Raymond Johnson of Wood* ville. Each member is appointed for a three-year term. Mr. Jenkins succeeds H. B. Wood, Jr., whose term expired in June. FHA committees determine the eligibility of individual applicants for all types of loans offered by the agency. It also reviews borrowers! progress and aids the county - supervisor in adapting die agency’s loan policies to conditions faced by farmers in this area. The Farmers Home Administration makes annual or intermediate term loans to not larger than family size farm operators who need funds to buy supplies, equipment and livestock, and longer term loans to build or repair houses and other essential farm build* ings and to purchase and im- < prove land. It also advances credit to farmers and to organized groups of rural residents to establish and carry out approved soil and water conservation practices.
