RICHMOND —Half the counties of Virginia were ^ granted drought disaster relief Thursday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Sen. A. Willis Robertson, DVa., said the Agriculture Department had granted permission for farmers in 48 counties to cut hay and graze livestock on land diverted from production under federal programs.
Similar drought assistance previously had been granted for eight other counties.
