the issue before the electorate will not be obscured. The voters won’t be in doubt as to where either candidate stands. One belives in limited government, dedicated to economy, states rights and nationalism, and the other believes in massive government spending, new authority for the federal government, and reliance on the United Nations, which now is dominated by the neutralist nations of Africa and Asia. Thus never have the issues been so clear and the opportunity for decision so great. A tremendous effort has been, made in recent months to deny ! this choice to the voters. The! “me too” element has done everything in its power to deprive the public of a true conservative option in the voting booth. By distortion, of the truth, snide comments, and outright vilification, the “liberal” forces have sought to undermine the country’s chief spokesman for conservatism. It has been said, in defiance of the record, that he is trigger happy and wants to use atomic bombs to clear away bushes in Viet Nam. It has been said, with the same lack of truth, that he has no concern for poor people. This massive scare campaign did not work very well, however. The “liberals” were talking to themselves.
