After we finally got some rain, gardens are beginning to produce, though a bit late. And along with the usual there are always some odd vegetables. Clinton Eastham from Massies Corner sent U6 a twin cucumber last week. It looked as though tvgo cucumbers had developed and grown together on one side,'sort of a Siamese effect.
Had a short breather between carnivals after four consecutive weeks and now the Flint Hill folks opened theirs last night. The Sperryville carnival and parade were well organized and apparently enjoyed by the enormous crowd in attendance Heard Frances Thornton say as she hurriedly served hamburgers and hot dogs in the food stand that she had never seen so many hungry people ••—at one time. She had Just forgotten about last year.
Mrs. Elmer Atkins has certainly done a marvelous job of training the group of majorettes in Sperryville, the Revelettes. Their performance was quite good and the costumes most attractive. It takes a lot of time and effort to get a group of youngsters .v in a rural area together to practice and attend parades all summer.
At the auction held recently at Jessamine Hill I purchased a pair of roller skates. Mr. B. James Moss of Castleton asked me if I was going to request concrete sidewalks in Amissville since Mr. Cox had requested hitching posts in
