Amissville Firemens Carnival opened last night with a brilliant display of fireworks which attracted a large crowd. The carnival activities will continue through Saturday, August 15.
Tonight a grand parade is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. with over 90 units entered. Congressman John O. Marsh, Jr. and Delegate Tom Frost will be present for the parade, which will be led by the marching unit from Vint Hill Farms.
Among parade entries are floats by Amissville Ruritan Club, Amissville Home Demonstration Club, Amissville M. Y.F. and the ever popular comical Chester Gap Hillbillies. Bands from Harpers Ferry and Winchester are scheduled to appear, along with a varied assortment of majorette groups, fire and rescue squad equipment, antique cars and numerous other entries.
