Tourists in Richmond are getting a first-hand look at the American Civif War this summer -- all by way of an art. museum. They’re doing it through a special exhibition of 29 Civil War photographs at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The photos, on view in the cool of the air-conditioned Museum’s theatre gallery, are from Alexander Gardner’s noted “Photographic Sketchbook of the Civil War.* Gardner was a photographer.
