Woodchucks
August Is a good woodchuck month In the Qld. Dominionif for no other reason than it offers good sport during a period when many other forms of hunting and fishing are at a low ebb. Fishing is suffering from dog days and it will be another month before the big ones resume their prowling. Also the young chucks are now able to forage for themselves and the sportsmen does not have to worry if. he bags an old sow, Chuck hunting is good sport in itself, but it also gives the hunter a chance to sharpen his shooting eye and to do some preseason scouting for game species.
Kit Shaffer Promoted
C. H. (Kit) Shaffer has recently been promoted to Game Management Field Coordinator by the Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries. Kit has served for a number of years as Supervising Game Biologist for Eastern Virginia and his new job is an added responsibility. He is well known to Lynchburg area sportsmen where he makes his home and is active in the Lynchburg Izask Walton Chap ter.
