tension 4-H Agent of Blacksburg conducted the class, 'Climbing the 4-H Ladder." This Included assembling of project records; achievement in contests demonstrations, and exhibiting; development In personality, citizenship, spirituality, etc. Several records compiled by older 4-H members of this area who were former state and national winners were available. Mr. Turner also covered achievement awards on county, district, state and national levels stressing that most important of all was development of the individual. While the number of Rappahannock youngsters availing themselves of this opportunity to have fun and learn has shown a steady increase, I'm very disappointed that the number isn’t much larger. For example this year we had 21, Warren county had 44 while there were 62 club members from Frederick. Is there any reason growth and development of skills, leadership, citizenship, achievement, etc. etc. should be limited by county lines? Why should Frederick furnish four adult leaders, Warren - two and Rappahannock but one adult leader? These people volunteer their time and skills to help your sons and daughters. Extension Service personnel on county basis was about equally represented, however due to the lop sidedness of county 4-H attendance it meant your agents helped two youngsters from Warren and three from Frederick to one.helped from Rappahannock.

Swimming Party
The Intermediate Boys Sunday School Class of the Woodville Baptist Church sponsored a private swimming party at the Madison Recreational Center on Sunday evening, August 9. Following the swimming a weiner roast was held. Those enjoying the fun, fellowship and food were; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Payne, Jean, Janet and Kenneth Payne, Mr. and Mrs. James Falls, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Johnson, Joan and Tommy Johnson, Mrs. R. G. Quaintance, John Quairv tance, Carol Quaintance, Mrs. Julia Wood, Merle Dulaney, Sandra Orange, Larry Conners, Betty Lou and Billy Atkins, Jacob and John Turner Dodson, Barbara Dodson, John, Bobby, Beth and Martha Lou O'Bannon, the Rev. and Mrs. B. G. Titchenell, Leslie, Mike, Bobby and Sue Titchenell.
