Book Week Featured
This week, November 1-7, is National Book Week, and at Sperryville Elementary School attention has been pointed to Book Week with a large display of books, a bulletin board and other appropriate decorations.
The reading of good books for pleasure and information is encouraged at Sperryville Elementary School. The library there contains a total of 4,224 volumes which includes ■•Bpice from the well known children’s classics to those on space travel and the atom. Last year 295 pupils read a total of 5,297 books or an average of 14 books per student. From the 32 periodicals available on a monthly basis, the pupils read current articles and stories. For the school year 1963-64 Sperryville Elementary School alone spent $357.93 for books, magazines and library materials. This is an average of $1.18 per pupil.
