Army Career Open

To VPI Students

Blacksburg, Va. - The choice of an Army career will be open to several VPI cadets on the basis of distinguished military student activities at the end of the year. Col. Edward D. Fitzpatrick of the U. S. Army ROTC Instructor Group at VPI, announces, with the concurrence of the university president, Dr. T. Marshall Hahn Jr., that several cadets have been designated as distinguished military students for the 196465 academic year. If they continue to excel they will be offered commissions in theU. S. Army. Among the students is Marvin R. Bradford, III, Flint Hill.

Forestry Report

Forests and forest products are important to the economy of Virginia. The Annual Report of the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry showed that forest industries employed 18.2% of the total labor force in 1963. These 54,000 workers received $223, 559,000 or 16% of all salaries and wages. The report divides forest industries into three groups; (1) Lumber and Wood Products, (2) Furniture and Fixtures, (3)Paper and Allied Products.
