Spasmodic snow flurries interspersed with patches of sunshine greeted race goers at Rappahannock Hunt's point to-point Saturday. A variety of costumes, from ski boots and fur caps to army coats and horse blankets, shielded fans from the elements when the sun dimmed and gave way to the dainty white flakes.
A newcomer to the point-topoint race circuit is making a smashing debut racking up points toward the Seven Corners Shopping tenter trophy which is awardad at the end of the race season. Dr. John Kneipp, a practicing psychiatrist of Washington, D.C. on Chiron, took the feature race, The BenVenue for his second win this year. He was victorious in the opening race of the season at Casanova the previous Saturday on Chiron, a seven year old bay gelding. Chiron beat Twin Peaks with owner Randy Rouse of Arlington in the saddle. This was strictly a two-horse race with the lead changing three times. However, Chiron had a little advantage when Twin Peaks j pulled slightly off to the side, and Kneipp coursed home the winner.
