4-H Doings...
Four-H’ers in the county are looking forward to several county events. The 4-H Supper which has been an annual activity for some time, will be held on Saturday, March 20th. Parents and friends may buy at the door if they have not purchased dinner tickets. The time is 5:30 to 7:30 p. m., the place is the Rappahannock County High School. The County 4-H Project Demonstration contests will be held at the high school on March 27th from 10 to 12 noon. Boys and girls Public Speaking will also be held then. In the afternoon the boys 4H Tractor Driving contest will be held. We will be contacting all boys and girls next week who might be interested in the Sears Roebuck Foundation Pig Project. Five purebred gilts will be provided this spring, and applications will be taken this month. This pig project provides a youngster with a fine opportunity to own an animal project, to learn good health and feeding practices, and to earn awards too. Sandra Foster, County 4-H Council President, is appointing three committees for other county events. A 4-H Budget Committee will be working on a report to present at the May council meeting. A 4-H Tour committee will be making plans for a summer tour, and a county picnic committee will be planning for this event. Project meetings are also to be held this summer. The date for our 4-H camp week at Powell’s Fort Camp is August 16-21. Director for the W a r r e n-RappahannockFrederick group will be Arlis Frymyer. Last year Bill Lyne was director of the camp. About 150 boys and girls from the three counties usually attend.
