Chosen ‘Good Citizen'
Good Citizen awards were presented to three area high school seniors by the Culpeper Minute Men chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution,' at it’s February meeting, designated as American History Month by the DAR.
Chosen as DAR Good Citizens, on the basis of dependability, serv ic e, leadership and patriotism, were Miss Virginia Yates Bradford ofRappa hannock County High School, Miss Faye Burke of Culpeper County High School and Miss Laurie Bennett McLearen of Madison County High School. They will compete in the State DAR Citizen Contest. Miss Bradford, daughter of Mir. and Mrs. M. R. Bradford of Flint Hill, is assistant editor of the RCHS annual, The Rhapsody, captain of the school cheerleaders and organist at her church. She plans to attend the College of William and Mary next year.
Arts & Crafts Plans
The Arts and Crafts Project’s next Immediate plans are for another night-time knitting class, a quilting workshop and a day of sketching and painting. One night knitting class is now in progress With 13s women enrolled under the direction of Mrs. Mary .Cleverley of Flint Hill. Mrs. Cleverley is a professional teacher but is donating her time. She will conduct another class beginning March 24 if there is sufficient interest. These classes will meet at Mrs. Cleverley’s home in Flint Hill from 7 to 9 p. m. for five consecutive Wednesday nights. A day of out-door sketching and painting is also planned for “apple blossom time," if enough people show an interest. This will be for the amateur artist, using pencil, crayon, chalk or paint and some will be trying their hand
