In preparation for the state’s annual highway resurfacing job, the Highway Department will open bids this month on more than 30 million gallons of bituminous material to restore smooth-riding surfaces to roads worn and roughened by traffic and winter weather. On March 17, bids for furnishing and applying 14,129,989 gallons of resurfacing material and 647,990 tons of covering aggregates will be opened for contract resurfacing on some 5,000 miles of primary and secondary highways.
