services and programs of the Farm Bureau in Virginia. Mrs. Cleverley observed that women in Michigan and Illinois were much more active in their organizations than Virginia women. Many held responsible offices and served as Directors. Everywhere, said Mrs. Clev erley, there was concern over the spread of housing develop ments into farm land and the ever increasing amount of cap! tal necessary to start a farm, Farm' land in Illinois was valued at from $350 to $850 an acre, with most of it around $700 per acre. An interesting fact was that within a circle around Peoria 111. with a 100 mile radius more corn is raised than in any other area in the world. The land is flat, the soil is black, and Peoria has both land and water transportation.
Each member on the tour will make a report to the Farm Bureau with which they are af filiated so that new ideas may be incorporated into Farm Bureau programs. Mrs. Cleverley has been a member of Rappahannock Farm Bureau for about ten years!
