Returning Teachers
Host New Teachers
The Rappahannock County Education Association was well represented at a banquet last Friday night. The returning teachers of both the Rappahannock County High School and the Rappahannock Elementary School entertained the new teachers and friends at the lovely Camp Skymont dining room up on the Shenandoah River. The delicious roast beef dinner was supervised by John Habel, the owner and a teacher at the Elementary School. The tables were decorated with centre pieces of fruit and flowers and lighted by colored candles in wrought iron candelabra.
Mrs. Lewis Turner was in charge of entertainment, which included solos and group singing led by the talented new music teacher, Miss Linda Oliver, with her guitar, Gina. Contest games were provided by Mrs. Turner, assisted by Mrs. Matilda Walker. Appropriate prizes were awarded to the winners: Robert Meade, Mrs. Aileen Johnson, and Miss Oliver. The evening ended on a note of hilarity when Miss Oliver taught the group her favorite “wake-up” song, Praise Ye the Lord, with actions.
