The cutover of Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company’! new multi-million dollai communications installation ii Culpeper, which was dedicatee last Wednesday, will bring the latest in telephone technology t< subscribers in the Amissville anc Sperryville areas. Hie benefi most obvious to the customer wit be the ability to dial long distance station-to-station calls, Oireci Distance Dialing (DDD). The nev system will become operations on November 17,1968.
The principal speaker was Mr, Richard S. Gillis, jr., executive director of The Virginia State Chamber of Commerce, who lauded the free enterprise system and called upon everyone to “become crusaders for” free enterprise not forgetting “that freedom of enterprise touches all freedoms.” Other participants in the program included F. Wayne Dementi, who served as master of ceremonies, The Rev. John S. Farrar, who pronounced the invocation: Mr. C. H. Copeland, who gave the remarks on behalf of the Telephone Company) * Mayor T. I. Martin and Winfree G. White, chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Culpeper County, who delivered the responses; Giles H. Miller, jr., who introduced the Principal speaker; Rev. Horace D. Douty, who delivered the dedicatory prayer; and Father Maurice DuCastillon, who pronounced the benedication.
