Several Injured in
Crash Thursday
Several people sustained injuries in a two-car collision at the intersection of Routes 231 and 522 last Thursday afternoon. Bobby Mainfort of Charlottesville was taken to Culpeper Memorial Hospital and transferred to the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville. He received lacerations of the head, fractured ribs and a perforated lung.
Mrs. Barbara Welch Parker of Remington sustained lacerations of the face, possible fractures of the arm and leg and some dislocated teeth. Her two children, Sandra Kay 4, and Toni 2, had lacerations and contusions of the head and loosened teeth. Mrs. Mary Frances Welch, mother of Mrs. Parker, sustained lacerations of the face and possible internal injuries. They were all taken to Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
According to Trooper Paul Dicks, Mr. Mainfort, operating a 57 Cadillac, was proceeding north on Route 522 and failed to stop at the intersection. He struck a 65 Buick operated by Mrs. Parker who was going toward Culpeper. Damage to the Parker vehicle was estimated at $1,400 and to the Cadillac at $500.
