A swimming class is being organized for certain Rappahannock youngsters. Children who received their “minnow” certification last year, or others who can swim at least 20 feet (but not beyond the 7th grade in school) are eligible.
The swimming class will be led by Paul Nichols at the Meadowbrook Hall Pool of Dr. Werner Krebser’s at Huntly on Tuesday and Saturday evenings during the summer. The first class will be held Tuesday, June 16 at 5:30 p.m.
A fee of $2.50 will be charged for each child participating. This fee will cover insurance, badges, certification cards, and awards.
Persons interested are urged to contact the Rappahannock Extension Office at 635-4549 immediately.
Complete First Aid
Standard and advanced first aid course has just been completed by a dozen area residents. Some were taking the course for the first time and some were renewing certificates. Included in the class were Emory C. Russell, Paul Miller and Patterson Biggs, all of Flint Hill; Margaret Ann Wayland, Jimmie Wayland, James W. Coates, Mrs. Roy Atkins, Carson Johnson, Cecil Baldwin and Sherwood Boze, all Sperryville and Oliver Carver and Mozelle Carver, both Washington. The class was completed May 21 and was instructed by Mrs. Bertha Armel.
