The Senior Class of RCHS enjoyed a two-day trip touring Gettysburg, Pa. and other points of interest.
Leaving at 6:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, twenty-nine students and four chaperones began their three-hour journey through Maryland and West Virginia arriving at Gettysburg at approximately 10 a.m. Those who accompanied me were: Gail Updike, Susan Dodson, Teresa Cordani, Amy Palmer, Patricia Russell, Betty Jenkins, Margaret Foster, Mary E. Jenkins, Linda Jenkins, Diane Woodward, Joyce Silvey, Harriet Racer, Brenda Jett, Wanda Roy, Peggy Williams, Susan Fox, Charlotte Printz, Jerry Russell, Danny Hitt, Tommy Walters, Stewart Henry, Floyd Grigsby^Oliver Myers, Paul Ay lor, Richard 'Tupper, Ed Bailey, Dale Welch, and Wayne Hitt, our bus driver. Chaperones were Mr. and Mrs. Titchenell and Mr. and Mrs. Pomeroy.
To our surprise,'everyone (most everyone) seemed to be wide awake at 6:30 on this brisk, early morn. Riding along and chattering our heads off, there was suddenly a loud bang. Finding out it was a blowout of the rear tire, the wounded bus slowly churned its way into a service station which referred us to a tire center. Our continuing journey wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for our skillful bus driver.
After arriving at our motel, we were shown to our rooms which had the comfort of air conditioning. Then, after settling down, all twenty-nine of us went to the Civil War Museum. This was really a very interesting place. The life-like figures of wax were ingeniously done. Some of them were extremely frightening, such
