Livestock Survey
To Be Made
The Post Office Department announced that Rural Mail Carriers and Star Route Contractors will begin distributing June 1, 1970, Livestock Survey Cards to farmer-patrons on their routes Your Post Office assists the* Department of Agriculture each year in making this and one other survey. Livestock cards returned by farmers to their carriers will be mailed direct to the Virginia Crop Reporting Service in Richmond. Information from each card will be combined with other reports to give indications of changes in livestock on farms in the Old Dominion. Using these facts, estimates will • be made of the number of cattle and calves, and hogs and pigs on Virginia farms as of June 1. In addition, estimates of the number of milk cows, the calf crop, spring sows farrowed and pigs saved, and plans for fall farrowing will be determined from information obtained from the June 1 Livestock Survey.
So, next week if you find in your mailbox a card titled “Livestock Survey, June 1, 1970,” don’t put it aside. It was placed there by your carrier.
Williams Twelfth In State Golf Tourney
John Henry Williams placed 12th individual in the state high school golf tournament held last week in New Market. His team, that of Fauquier High School, Warren ton, was in 16th place in the competition.
John Henry and coach Buddy Glascock as his partner were the victors in a two-day member event held at South Wales. They tied with another couple and won the match on the second hole of the playoff.
