PANTHER TALES

There was an assembly held on Monday to recognize the students who participated in a few of the school activities. In basketball, on the Varsity team, Dale Welch won the Sportsmanship Award for most valuable player. On the J.V. team, Bill Settle won the award for most valuable player. Maury Nicholas, a member of the Varsity team, won the award for the best free throw.
In baseball, Floyd Grigsby won the award for best sportsmanship and Paul Aylor won the award for most valuable player. Also, the baseball team presented Mr. Patterson with a trophy, to show their appreciation for coaching them this year. This year the Chorus Class presented a student with a trophy for being the best participant in chorus. The person elected was to be a senior, and was elected by members of the chorus. This year, the senior elected was Sandra Payne. All the seniors in the chorus were recognized and each member was presented with a membership pin. Mrs. Blauett was presented fe gift from the Chorus Class. Mr. Fetchero presented a certificate to the students in Biology and Earth Science who maintained the highest average for the whole year. In Biology, Bill Kilby and Elaine Cameron received the certificates. In Earth Science, Bill Stokes and Cil Davis received the certificates. He also presented a certificate to the best drivers in his Driver’s Education Class. He presented the certificate to Mike Anderson for the best male driver, and Mrs. Reece presented the certificate to Deborah Barrow for the N*st female driver.
