Topic for PTA Meet
The Rappahannock Elementary School P.T.A. announces its first program of the year in the series, “The P.T.A. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.” This meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 29 at 8 p.m. in the elementary school auditorium and will feature as its speaker Mr. Robert L. Montague, III of Alexandria. His topic will be “Tomorrow: Proposed Changes in the Virginia Constitution.” He will be accompanied and introduced by the Hon. Duncan C. Gibb, Rappahannock’s representative in the Virginia House of Delegates. Mr. Montague is a native of Washington, D. C., bom in 1935. He was admitted to the bar in 1961 in Virginia and Kentucky; to the U. S. Supreme Court in 1966 and District of Columbia in 1966. He was educated at the University of Virginia and Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Montague is the grandson of the late Gov. Andrew Jackson Montague, who, during his term of office, 1902-06, the present Virginia constitution was adopted. It was first amended in 1928. He is presently a practicing attorney in Alexandria. This P.T.A. program is open to the public and the chairman of the program committee encourages all citizens, whether they be P.T.A. members or not, to attend. It should provide an excellent opportunity for all concerned people in the county to become informed on the issues involved in the upcoming revision of the state constitution, which certainly affects everyone.
