Who he was, nobody knows. But this year’s two millionth person went whrough the gates of a state park in Virginia some time during the Labor Day weekend. Which park the unknown visitor entered is also a mystery. 4

Was he male, or she female? School age or retired? White, black or maybe of Oriental descent? To park officials it makes no difference.

What the state’s Division of Parks does know, however, is that about 35,000more people followed him (or her) into its parks, other recreational areas, and historic attractions before the holiday weekend was over.

All totaled, approximately 85,000 visitors took advantages of the generally Pine weather during the first week of September to enjoy all the division’s facilities which were open in 20 locations through Labor Day. After then, the swimming beaches and most other concession operations closed for the summer. Nevertheless, the park division noted, many recreational opportunities still exist and most of the park areas are open throughout the year.
