When I was a little boy a colored j
family lived right in our back j
yard. They had a son about my j age and we were buddies. Heji would push me around the yard ! in my little red wagon till his turn ji came, then I would push him. j Sometimes we would argue about who was being pushed the most. I would call him nigger and he would call me ‘pore white trash’, we would stay mad at each other for a few minutes and then back to pushing each other in the wagon again. Why can’t we get rid of our antagonisms as readily now, are we really further from heaven than when we were ] young?
4-H Club Organized In Fourth Grade
On September 16th the 4th grade girls of the Rappahannock Elementary School had their first 4-H meeting of the year. Club officers were elected. They are president, Deidre Welch; vice-president, Katen Welch; Secretary Bonnie Williams; reporter, Sarah Massie; song leader, Kim Gilkey.
The group learned the 4-H Song and Pledge and what the 4-H’s mean.
