was astounded. I think the thing which made mine rate a first ' place were the bird pictures I drew for the birdwalk. The awards were books; for < forestry, a book on trfees; for 1 botany, a book of unusual recipes 1 using weeds and berries and for ' best notebook, a hardback book, < the “Field Guide to Birds” which 1 I like very much. On the last night we had a i period called Benedictine Silence where we could not talk until the next morning. I really thought this was fascinating.
A pleasant surprise came on the last day. After packing Saturday morning I was waiting for my mother when Mr. Heath, the director, told me that he knew the Rappahannock Garden Club sent one or two different people to camp each year so that a lot would get to attend. He told me that he wanted me to come back next year, so he gave me a scholarship to the camp and said I would receive an application in January.
I don’t really know how pleased the sponsoring club is with me, but I do hope I did suit them a little bit. I made many friends from everywhere and had a glorious time after a few days of getting to know the place. I was nominated for best all-around camper, but I was not as well known as some others who had been there before, so I lost, but was not disappointed very much.
I really thank the Garden Club for sending me. I was quite happy at Nature Camp.
