Summer 4-H Work

The Rappahannock Count) Extension Program has beer expanded during the past twc years with the addition of Sandri Foster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Charles Foster of Flint Hill, filling the position of Work Stud) Student during the summei months.

The Work Study Program fc supported by a U. S. Office ol Education Grant to V. P. I. and other interested colleges and universities, which is, in Miss Foster’s case, Longwood College The purposes of this program art to provide meaningful work experience for students and acquaint them with Extensior career possibilities; provide needed financial assistance tc qualified students to help them further their education, and tc help in accomplishing Extensior education purposes. Miss Foster’s work has beer mainly with the youth. During the summer, she has worked with girls and boys in the Amissville, Chester Gap and Sperryville Areas and the groups have met once a week. Miss Foster also spent a week at 4-H Camp and has become a part of the WCVA Radio Station programming by presenting educational programs over the air twice a month. She has helped with organizing such recreational events as the 4-H tour and the county picnic. Miss Foster was responsible for the planning and execution of the Fair, which was held Wednesday, August 26 at Flint Hill. She Is an elementary education major at Longwood College and will begin her Junior Year In the fall.
