Applications on Hand
Rep. John O. Marsh, Jr., suggests that high school seniors who have not yet made their college plans might want to consider competing for entrance to the United States Coast Guard Academy.
Applications for the nationwide competitive entrance examination now are being received, and the deadline is December 15 for the class which will enter next summer, Marsh said. He emphasized that there are no Congressional Appointments to the Coast Guard Academy, and that students interested in competing should write directly to the Director of Admissions, United States Coast Guard Academy, New London, Conn. 06320.
Marsh noted that, to be qualified for admission, candidates must expect to graduate from high school next June, be in excellent physical condition and have reached the 17th, but not the 22nd, birthday by July 1,1971.
Graduates of the Academy receive a bachelor of science degree and a commission as ensign in the Coast Guard.
