The month of November, to date, has been the wettest November in Rappahannock since official weather records have been kept here. The official weather checking station was instituted in 1944 and is manned by Miss Ruby Jenkins at her home in Washington, Va.

From October 31 to November 14, a total of 10.41 inches of rain have been recorded. Average rainfall for November is 3.01 inches; and average for a year is 36 inches. The next highest record was in 1962 with 5.78 inches of rain.

Road Bids Open

Thd Virginia Department of Highways will receive bids on December 16 for thirteen construction projects and repair projects. Among these is the bridge over the Rappahannock River at Cresthill on Route 647. The job will include .36 of a mile of approach roadway and the bridge which is a 190 foot structure.

Bids will also be taken for cleaning and painting structural steel at various locations in the Culpeper District of which Rappahannock is a part.
