211 By-Pass Can Kill You Some observations and recommendations to proper authorities.
It is already obvious that the new 211 By-pass endangers the I safety and welfare of people1 coming and going to and from > Washington. 1
1- Note that all three access' points to and from Washington have* installed very short de-acceleration lanes, far too short to take care of 60 mile an 1 hour traffic. These should be: twice as long. 2- There is no evidence that acceleration lanes are to be provided at any of the three! access points. How can one get into heavy 60-mile an hour traffic from a standing start? and without great risk to self and the oncoming traffic?
3- Vision at the eastern access point both coming and going is greatly obstructed by a high bank on the old mill property near the Rush River. Why cannot that bank be cut back for better vision?
Some recommendations to the proper authorities of Rappahannock and the Town of Washington, i.e. for the general safety - i.e. for the general welfare - i.e. to save lives and property.
1-Prevent the first accident by petitioning the Highway Department to install longer de-acceleration lanes, and to install acceleration lanes at all three access points.
2. To avoid intersection accidents petition the Highway Department to install blinker warning lights at all three access points.
