3-retition the Highway Department to place adequate signs for a reduced speed limit from the Rush River to the western access point to 45 miles per hour. Two other items, not related to safety, should be sought from the Highway Department - (a) to mark with proper signs, the old 211 through Washington as Alternate 211. (b) to place the standard Historical Marker (for Washington) one at each end of Town. I understand that (a) is already under consideration.
If the proper authorities can secure these additions to the By pass for the safety and welfare for all who must come and go, and do it now, we can be sure that that first accident will be far less likely to happen. Why wait for someone, maybe you, to have to pay the price with his property and maybe his life? Item: Secure these safety measures now.
P.S. Some of these may be in the works now, but if not why not?
If the Washington Monument were laid lengthwise on the floor of the grand concourse of Union Station In Washington, D.C., it would lack 205 feet of spanning the great hall, the National Geographic says. The monument is 656 feet/tall, the concourse is 760 feet Ijsng.
