Mrs. A. C. Latham
Mrs. Mary Anderson Latham of Amissvilie died December 23, 1970 in Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton. She was 78, and the widow of Armistead Clifford Latham. Mrs. Latham was a native of Rappahannock County, the daughter of the late Peyton Anderson and Louemma Miller Anderson.
She was a member of Amissvilie Baptist Church and its Woman’s Missionary Union; a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Amissvilie Fire Company and of the Amissvilie Homemakers Club. She was a graduate of Longwood College, Farmville.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary L. Payne of Amissvilie and Mrs. Anne Carder of Culpeper; a son, James Richard Latham of Amissvilie; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A brother, Aubrey M. Anderson of Yuba City, Calif, also survives. Mrs. Latham was pre-deceased by two sons, Francis Wendell Latham and A. C. Latham Jr.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Christmas Eve in Amissvilie Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Louis Broughman and the Rev. W. A. Layman. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jack James, Nelson Burner, Stanley Settle, T. C. Barron, Russell Hackley, Bobby Carter, Braxton James and Charlie Priest.
