Flint Hill firemen, joined by visiting fire company personnel and other guests, feasted on fried chicken and Virginia ham when they were entertained with the annual banquet given by the Ladies Auxiliary last Wednesday evening. The event took place at the fire hall and H. S. Barksdale, president of the fire company, was Toastmaster. Mrs. Barbara Gentry welcomed guests and led them in singing “America.” The Rev. Jerry Campbell gave the invocation. Mr. Barksdale introduced special guests and visiting fire and rescue squadsmen, and called on Mrs. M. R. Bradford to receive a plaque for Mr. Bradford in appreciation of his 17 years of dedicated service to Flint Hill Fire Department. These years were spent as secretary of the volunteer organization and as chairman of the mammouth parade held in connection with the annual carnival. Mr. Bradford had resigned from the position of secretary last year due to ill health. Mr. Barksdale announced the duo which was to entertain with ballads accompanied by guitars.
