Safety Certificates

Each year the employees of Virginia Telephone & Telegraph Company ar6 honored for their outstanding safety records. Local Manager Larry Hepner of Front Royal announced the company presented 26 Front Royal employees an award for their safety record during 1970. Twenty-six employees amassed a total of 302 safe working years.

The employees were presented these awards in the form of gold, silver and white certificates which were signed by Toral Duckett, Executive Vice President of the company. The presentation of the award is made according to employee’s number of accident free years. The Gold Certificate represents ten or more accident free years; Silver Certificate represents five through nine years; and White Certificate less than five years.

Employees’ safety is the first consideration in adopting construction, maintenance and removal methods and establishing specifications for equipment, tools and materials, stated Mr. Hepner. He further stated that the company’s Training and Safety School has proven beneficial to the employees and
