Writing Award
Miss Carter Moffett, daughter of Judge and Mrs. W. F. Moffett of Washington, was recently awarded second place in the poetry category of the annual Madison College competition in creative writing. The literary magazine of Madison College, the Chrysalis, sponsors the competition in fiction and poetry each year, with eligibility to compete extended to all Virginia college students. Miss Moffett received a cash award of twenty-five dollars and her poem, “On the Road,” will be published in the forthcoming issue of the Chrysalis. Carter is a political science major at Mary Washington College where she is also VicePresident and program director of the International Relations Gub. She has represented the school at various United Nations simulations and recently represented the college at the Western Carolina University Symposium on the Middle East. She has been active in the college Chorus and has been named to the Dean’s List of honor students.
