Senator George Aldhizer II has announced his candidacy for the Senate of Virginia from the newly created 26th Senatorial District subject to the action of the Democratic Convention scheduled for May 29. The new district includes Rappahannock, Culpeper, Madison, Page and Rockingham counties and the City of Harrisonburg.
Senator Aldhizer, a 63-year-old native of Broadway, was first elected to Senate in 1953 after serving two years in the House. He received both undergraduate and graduate law degrees from the University of Virginia. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church, a Mason and member of the Lions and Elks clubs.
